This course is an introductory course on the bolt tool from puppet. This is a tool which is very similar to ansible, it allows you to automate most of the aspects of your daily work from a single node. In this course we will build up the knowledge that allows you to utilize this tool to its full potential. We will start with an environment setup, then go through from the very basics to the most advanced use cases of bolt. This course is intended to anyone who wants to make their lives easier and go with the devops flow. There is a git repository associated with the course as well that holds the source materials for the video series. After the environment is setup your will learn how to create a basic inventory, then execute different types of commands. The metadata collection and definition is shown as well, it allows you to customize your workflow in an efficient way.
The project setup is demonstrated as well, which gives you an idea how to structure your files. Later you learn how to execute different types of tasks and how to customize them. After tasks the plans are also introduced which are basically tasks chained together to achieve a more complex workflow and build more robust stuff. Finally it is demonstrated how you can convert an existing powershell script into a bolt task, which allows you to create bolt native solutions for your challenges.
